UC Riverside is a long-time client who relies on Superior Signs and Graphics for student-facing signage. Cases in point include wall graphics and murals for the UC Riverside brand mail center and student store, as well as new sign faces for monument signs that identify the Center for Early Childhood Education. For the latest project, the client needed another monument sign makeover in Riverside – this time for the Resident Services Office.

When we assisted the client with the earlier monument sign refacing, they were impressed by the signage’s color accuracy. Moreover, they noted how well the monument signs have done in the full sun. Having proven that the investment in the signage upgrade was well spent, the client invited us to come out and reface another monument sign.
The original sign lacked the school administration’s brand colors. Additionally, it missed a few letters. Because we kept the client’s specs on file, we were able to design and fabricate another monument sign face with the required brand colors. To ensure the signage looks great even after years of sun exposure, our technicians used 3M cast IJ180 vinyl and a matching laminate—both of which last longer in the sun than calendared vinyls.

Remember also that we routinely use the ink set that 3M helped HP develop, which causes the print to last longer without fading. The finished result is a brand-centric monument sign makeover in Riverside that significantly boosts the curb appeal and professionalism of the buildings it names.
Q: What are the challenges of aging monument signs?
A: Signs of aging monument signs include faded graphics, missing letters, cracked acrylic faces, outdated tenant panels, and weathered paint. Illuminated signs may additionally face electrical failures. As a result, these signs fail to adequately represent your brand to passersby and customers.

Q: How do multi-tenant properties deal with frequently outdated displays?
A: Multi-tenant properties like shopping centers and business parks frequently invest in modular sign systems that allow for tenant panel replacement as needed. While it is still possible to make changes to other types of outdated monument sign displays, it tends to be more labor-intensive and expensive.
Q: What is involved in rebranding an existing monument sign?
A: Rebranding may involve changes in colors, logos, text, and material selections. If existing sign structures do not accommodate the changes, it may be time to make modifications. Our team can assist you with a monument sign rebranding that balances branding changes with budgetary and design constraints.
