Aluminum is brushed and the most dense and expensive material.  It is available in ¼” to ½” thickness.  All three of those materials can be stud mounted flush to the wall or with spacers to give the look of more depth.  Finally, Gatorfoam can be painted or have a laminated aluminum face and is the least dense requiring adhesive mount flush to the wall.
