We’re 3M Preferred Graphics Installers and have gone through the intensive testing and certification process to achieve that rating. Only a small fraction of vinyl graphics installers have any type of certification, and most have just learned on their own or by watching YouTube videos. To do the job right and make the wrap last – there are certain techniques that need to be followed – and that is where the 3M certification separates the professionals from amateurs!
What Kinds of Vinyl Graphics Can We Install?
We install full vehicle wraps and partial wraps using 3M premium cast wrap vinyl and laminate – in either a matte or semi-gloss finish. For walls – we use a 3M adhesion testing kit to identify the least expensive film needed based upon the wall texture – and often can use a 3M flat surface vinyl. When we do encounter rough textured surfaces, we use a special high tack cast vinyl and install with heat guns and rollers – for a painted-on look. For windows we can install full blockout or perforated graphics, as well as the hard to install etched glass graphics. And of course for all of those substrates we offer die-cut install solutions as well.
Preparation and Post Install Finishing Is the Key to a Long Lasting Wrap!
Some of the less glamourous work that is required for a successful wrap in vehicle preparation, and post heating. Preparation includes getting the vehicle surface aseptically clean, and removing things like emblems and antennas. Areas like wheel wells and other tough to stick areas should be treated with a 3M liquid primer adhesive. Finally after the wrap is completed it is imperative that a heat gun (not a torch!) is used at the proper heat level to post heat the areas of the wrap where the vinyl was stretched the most. This removes the “memory” of the vinyl and helps reduce “recoil”.
