Cal State Fullerton boasts the highest enrollment numbers among the various California State University campuses. Its athletes are members of the Big West Conference and compete in the NCAA’s Division I. You know them as the CSUF Titans. Tuffy, the Titans’ mascot, proudly looks back at wins in 13 national championships. Titan Stadium is the home turf for the school’s soccer team. It is here that the assistant athletic director for CSUF noticed that some cosmetic changes needed to be done. After contacting Superior Signs and Graphics, we came out for a site evaluation and to take some measurements.
Vinyl Wall Wraps Great for Outdoor Use!
University stadium vinyl wall wraps for Orange County schools are a popular means of quickly but effectively sprucing up the look and feel of a venue. The wall originally had old foam letters and a plywood logo that we removed. The lettering had served its purpose and was now no longer in keeping with the school’s and the sports teams’ modern mindset. After taking down the old signage and pressure-washing the wall, we prepared the surface for one of our durable stadium vinyl wall wraps.
The wrap’s measurements are 175’ in width by 16’ in height. Since the wall has a rough surface with mortar joints, we called Arlon in Santa Ana to get a premium cast vinyl that was only 2ml thick and featured an aggressive adhesive that would securely adhere to this rough surface. We used a semi-gloss over-laminate with UV protection to keep the vinyl safe and looking great for years to come. The installation called for the use of handheld blow torches to provide much-needed heat. Each panel on the wall was laid vertically overlapping the previous panel by 2”. Edge sealer was used to keep all of the vinyl edges down for many years to come.
The customer had a very clear vision for the wrap’s ultimate design. We offered a bit of input with respect to the technical aspects. For example, the subliminal palm tree pattern in the background was added to hide marks made by the soccer balls when they hit the wall. The right side of the wrap shows the years that the men’s and women’s soccer teams have reached the NCAA playoffs, and we left room for more decals to be added at a later time since this wrap is going to stay looking great for a good long time.
Made Your Stadium Shine!
It took us four days to complete the stadium wrap’s installation. The assistant athletic director for CSUF was quite impressed by the look and the speed with which we got the job done. By the way, the soccer teams were practicing while we were installing the panels. The players kept coming up to the wall and touching it saying that it looked like paint. Well, we were so impressed by the young athletes and their professionalism that we decided to support the school’s sports programs with a corporate sponsorship of $1,000! This job was a win-win all the way around. Does a new wall wrap sound like something your school might need? Talk to our friendly stadium vinyl wrap experts today!
