Our team is receiving an increasing number of requests for laser-cut acrylic logo signs in Anaheim, Cerritos, and throughout Orange County. What makes these 3D logo displays the new favorite of clients? Let’s take a closer look.

Intelligent Fire Systems is at the forefront of innovative fire safety solutions. We collaborated with the client on an acrylic lobby sign featuring quarter-inch-thick acrylic. The logo features numerous small letters and intricate logo elements. Therefore, our technicians opted to work with the laser cutter to fabricate the sign.
The laser excels at cutting highly detailed and smaller style elements. In contrast, if we had opted for the CNC router as the tool of choice, we would have had to use a 3/16-inch cutting bit. When you look closely, you will notice that using the router versus the laser cutter causes the insides of the capital “As” to be rounded rather than featuring a desired angle.
The client loved the way their laser-cut acrylic lobby logo sign creates a fully brand-centric display.

When compared to the router’s cutting bit, the laser cuts with a beam that is roughly the width of a thin sewing thread. The level of intricacy and detail work it allows us to prepare is impossible to replicate with the CNC router. Additionally, the laser’s temperature melts just a little off the edges of the style elements, resulting in a beautiful finish.
We have already discussed at length the advantages of laser-cut acrylic logos and lettering in terms of precision and versatility. Laser-cut acrylic opens up many more design options that were previously unavailable. However, we also noted that we are not getting rid of our CNC router because there are some things the laser cannot do as well. For example, the CNC router is the ideal tool for working with thicker metals, PVC, and layered Dibond.
There are additional reasons why the CNC router may be a good choice for your signage selection. For example, if you are looking for deep cuts, carved signage, and 3D relief work, the CNC router does a better job. In short, the router may be the right option if the material you are working with consists of thicker metal or the design requires greater depths.

Each fabrication method has its unique uses. If you are unsure whether your signage solutions will look better after laser cutting or CNC routing, discuss your thoughts with our team. We can help you select the correct setup for your needs. Call us today to talk about your plans!
